UPCOMING EVENTS

August 19 - The Environmental Merits of Historic Preservation
Learn how preservation contributes to building more sustainable cities. Presenter Derek Young, Vice President of Sustainability for CBL Properties will discuss how preserving existing buildings significantly reduces environmental impact by conserving embodied carbon, minimizing construction waste, and reducing the demand for new materials and energy-intensive processes. Compared to new construction, adaptive reuse supports sustainability by extending the life cycle of structures, protecting cultural heritage, and promoting more efficient land use. This session will explore these benefits in more detail and discuss ways to promote sustainable preservation in Chattanooga.
